About Hemolock

Hemolock is a Carboxymethyl Chitosan hemostat designed to stop lethal bleeding fast. It has better performance than normal Chitosan hemostat.

Hemolock™ is a Sterile, Single-use, High-absorbent hemostatic granules intended to be used to temporary control of bleeding wounds, as below:

How Does Hemolock Work?

Hemolock granules have dual function of blood clotting:

1. Hemolock contains abundant hydrophilic carboxymethyl, combined with high surface-area flakes that rapidly absorb fluid from blood.

2. Moreover, when directly placed into a bleeding wound and compressed, the positively charged Hemolock cross-links with negatively charged red blood cells, causing it to swell, gel, and adhere together to form a robust pseudo-clot. This adhesive-like action effectively seals the wound and rapidly controls bleeding. Additionally, the Hemolock clot adheres well to moist tissue, preventing it from easily dislodging during the movement of the wounded person and causing secondary harm.

Hemolockis a highly specialized wound treatment solution that operates independently of the bodys normal clotting cascade. It is designed to clot only the blood it comes into direct contact with and cannot enter the bloodstream. Unlike other hemostats, Hemolockdoes not set off a blood clotting response that could cause clots to form at a distance from the product. Carboxymethyl Chitosan

Hemolock™ is composed of Carboxymethyl chitosan, an innovative material that addresses the shortcomings of Chitosan while retaining its advantages. Carboxymethyl chitosan is created by adding negatively charged hydrophilic carboxyl groups to chitosan molecules. This modification results in a molecule with both a physiologically active amino group and a positive charge, as well as a negative charge. As a result, Carboxymethyl chitosan is soluble in water, making it an excellent material for use in the human body.

Due to the negative charges and carboxyl groups present in its molecular structure, Carboxymethyl chitosan is highly water-soluble and biocompatible. It is very similar to the extracellular matrix components found in the body environment, such as hyaluronic acid, collagen, and other glycosaminoglycans, all of which are negatively charged macromolecules containing carboxyl groups. This biocompatibility ensures that Carboxymethyl chitosan does not cause any inflammatory response when used in the human body. Overall, Hemolock™’s use of Carboxymethyl chitosan makes it a safe and effective option for managing deep and difficult wounds.

Carboxymethyl chitosan retains the original amino group (-NH3) and positive charge of chitosan, allowing it to maintain the physiological activity of chitosan. Additionally, Carboxymethyl chitosan possesses improved solubility and biocompatibility due to the incorporation of negatively charged hydrophilic carboxyl groups.

Our chitosan is derived from North Atlantic snow crab shells, ensuring that it is free from contamination and heavy metals.
